A Game Of Headers & Volleys is a casual football chat between long term friends and Dagenham and Redbridge season ticket holders, Joel Stevens & Terry Spelman.

Unlike a standard football podcast, Game of Headers features all sorts of nonsense, skits and sketches as well as a look at Daggers matches and results and what is going on in non-league football and is always entertaining.

Occasional specials have included interviews with club legends, MD Steve Thompson and the new club owners.

Season Three
Episode 24 Joel and Terry discuss Saturdays win at home to Notts County with match reactions from Sam and Blake. In Arthurs Army this week The Arthurs take on Stamford in the FA Vase 3rd Round and field all 7 of the leading actors from the TV show Auf Wiedersehen Pet in their starting line up. Surely they can't win the game? This weeks Classic Daggers is Mickey Spillane.
Episode 23 Joel and Terry discuss last weeks win against Barking and Saturdays postponed game at Barnet. John Still is invited to a fancy dress party at Barnet and after an accident, manages to flood the ground. In our sitcom, Arthurs Army, a bout of food poisoning leaves Scargill Town with only 4 available players before an important FA Vase game which leads to Wilson signing the main actors from the TV show, Auf Wiedersehen Pet to cover the missing players. This weeks Classic Daggers is the conclusion of the Essex Senior Cup run of 2001/02 in a game where the legend that is Neville Southall made his only appearance for the Daggers.
Episode 22 Joel and Terry discuss the weekends FA Trophy defeat at Notts County and chat about Tuesdays Essex Senior Cup match against Barking and Saturdays league game at Barnet. John Still muses about his time spent with Lenny Henry at a motor show in Birmingham. In Arthurs Army, Scargill Town travel to London in an attempt to sign a retired England World Cup Winner. Cockney Byrites continues his FA Trophy Glory Hunt as his current side, Chelmsford City, win 4-0 against Salisbury. This weeks Classic Daggers takes us back to pre-merger Daggers from October 1985.
Episode 21 Joel and Terry discuss one or two things that may have come up over at The Daggers since our last "normal" podcast. Peter Taylor out and Daryl McMahon in. John Still gives himself a New Years Resolution and in this weeks Arthurs Army, we witness the aftermath of the clubs New Years party. In this weeks Classic Daggers, Tel continues the Essex Senior Cup run of 2001/02.

Episode 20 Joel and Terry discuss the FA Trophy draw at Sutton as well as the replay. John Still is visited by 3 coaches, one from his past, one from his present and one from his future. In this weeks 'Arthurs Army', the team are invited to visit Madame Tussauds. What could possibly go wrong? Cockney Byrites FA Trophy Glory Hunt continues with his new Glory Hunt team, Chelmsford City. This weeks Classic Daggers is Danny Foster.
Episode 19 Joel and Terry discuss the past weekends defeat to Maidenhead as well as the upcoming FA Trophy match at Sutton United. John Still puts the Christmas decorations up in Shady Meadows Retirement Home and in this weeks Arthurs Army, Scargill Town are invited down to Fulhams, Craven Cottage for a VIP tour by Jimmy Hill. What could possibly go wrong? Classic Daggers takes us back to January 2002 for an Essex Senior Cup 4th Round match against Ford United.
Episode 18 Joel and Terry discuss the defeats to Sutton Utd & Chorley respectively as well as having Instant Match Reactions from after the Sutton game by Eddie and James as well as I.M.R regular Blake Brooks. John Still talks of his reaction to regularly receiving the wrong post and in the world of Arthurs Army, Scargill Town attempt to continue their dream of glory as they take on Blakenall in the FA Vase 2nd Round at The Pit. This weeks Classic Daggers is Josh Scott.
Episode 17 Joel and Terry discuss Saturday's defeat at AFC Fylde as well as the upcoming games vs Sutton Utd and Chorley. John Still muses about Christmas adverts as well as representing the supporters with his prediction in the Joey Dunwell Prediction League. Cockney Byrites FA Trophy Glory Hunt has a new team as Havant & Waterlooville defeat Cinderford Town. In Arthurs Army, some of the team travel down to London to appear on a massive charity Christmas song. What could possibly go wrong??? This weeks Classic Daggers is an Essex Senior Cup 3rd Round game from 2001.
Episode 16 In this, the 99th episode, Joel and Terry discuss the fantastic 6-1 win against Aldershot with Post Match Reactions from Sean Archer, Mike Wainwright, Blake Brooks and Daggers Ladies U14 manager, Nick Sheldrick. In the Joey Dunwell Prediction League, one of the participants got the Aldershot result spot on. John Still talks of his preparations of when he had the possibility of appearing on last years 'I'm A Celebrity...'. In our sitcom, 'Arthurs Army', Manager Mainwaring is pranked in an episode of Game For A Laugh. This weeks Classic Daggers is a match away to Halifax Town in 2002.
Episode 15 Joel and Terry discuss the weekends defeat to Stockport County as well as Elliott Justham's new contract. Cockney Byrites FA Trophy Glory Hunt continues with his new team, Cinderford Town. In our sitcom, Arthurs Army, Scargill Town host a Remembrance Day Service at their ground, The Pit. What could possibly go wrong? This weeks Classic Daggers is our 2008/09 Player Of The Year, Solomon Taiwo.
Episode 14 Joel and Terry chat about the defeats to Barrow and Solihull Moors respectively. They also chat to Dagenham & Redbridge Ladies U14 manager, Nick Sheldrick after the Barrow game for his Post Match Reaction. John Still gets a bit tipsy during the Rugby World Cup Final and in this weeks episode of Arthurs Army, there's a plan to cure Duke Dancers penalty hoodoo. Will it work? Will it F@*k!!! And this weeks Classic Daggers, takes you back to the final home game of the 1995/96 season vs Macclesfield Town.
Episode 13 Joel and Terry discuss the weekends win vs Wrexham as well as the upcoming matches vs Barrow & Solihull Moors. They also pay respects to former Joint Life President, Brian East, who sadly passed away on Friday. Three of the Daggers Ladies teams were back in action this weekend and they finished with two wins and a defeat. John Still talks of an old job interview he had and in our sitcom, 'Arthurs Army', the team are appearing live on Children In Need. We also have a new team in Cockney Byrites FA Trophy Glory Hunt as Potters Bar Town knock out our previous Glory Hunt team, Heybridge Swifts. In this weeks Classic Daggers, we go back to the 2010/11 season for our home game vs Charlton Athletic.
Episode 12 We discuss our defeat in the FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round as well as the alleged racism at the Haringey Borough vs Yeovil Town FA Cup tie. John Still watches 80's cop TV shows. In 'Arthurs Army', Mainwaring and Wilson take the team to the cinema in an attempt of team bonding. In The Joey Dunwell Prediction League, Daggers legend Paul Cobb represents the supporters and gives his prediction for the Wrexham game. This weeks Classic Daggers is a match against Brentford at home in the 2008/09 season.
Episode 11 We discuss the end of our unbeaten run vs Notts County as well as the postponed game at Stockport. We also chat about this weekends FA Cup 4th Qualifying game vs Carshalton Athletic. This week John Still travels to Bath and in Arthurs Army, Scargill Town are losing 2-0 and down to 8 men at half time. Can they turn it around and continue their FA Vase dream? Cockney Byrites FA Trophy Glory Hunt continues with another win for Heybridge Swifts. This weeks Classic Daggers is Sam Williams.
Episode 10 We discuss the weekends draw at home to Barnet and we get match reactions from owner, Peter Freund and not an owner, Mike Wainwright. We also give a summary of last weeks Daggers Forum and give our opinions on a few of the things brought up. In this weeks 'Arthurs Army', Manager Mainwaring is interviewed after Scargill Towns draw with the West Midlands Police in the FA Vase 1st Round. This weeks Classic Daggers is a game from 2013, where we went into the game on a 10 match unbeaten run, and we took on the league leaders.
Episode 9 In this we discuss the weekends draw vs Chorley and have instant match reactions from Steve From The Sieve and Mike Jones. John Still tells us about the first Christmas card he's already received from a musical friend. Heybridge Swifts FA Trophy Glory Hunt continues and Cockney Byrites talks about their big win. In this weeks 'Arthurs Army', the team stay in a B&B in the midlands ahead of their FA Vase 1st Round game. And this weeks Classic Daggers takes us back to 1985 for an FA Cup 1st Round match vs Cambridge Utd.
Episode 8 In this we chat about the weekends game at Torquay Utd as well as the upcoming games with Sutton Utd and Chorley. I grab an interview with Dag & Red U14 Girls manager Nick Sheldrick after their 6-3 win vs Braintree Town Girls on Sunday and in this weeks 'Arthurs Army', Mainwaring and Wilson prepare for the FA Vase by taking the team to Alton Towers. This weeks Classic Daggers goes back to the pre merger Daggers to talk about Nicky Bissett.
Episode 7 In this we discuss Saturdays dominant win over Hartlepool Utd and we have Fan Reactions from Mark Smith and Blake Brooks from after that game. John Still talks of his experience at attending the Casino Royale Secret Cinema and in this weeks 'Arthurs Army' episode, Manager Mainwaring takes part in the live draw for the FA Vase 1st Round. This weeks Classic Daggers is Mark Brennan.
Episode 6 In this episode we discuss the unbeaten run going up to 6 games with the draw vs Bromley and the win against Maidenhead Utd respectively. We also have some fan reactions from Mike Jones and Blake Brooks from after the Bromley game. John Still explains why he was sent off at a kids football match and in this weeks episode of the mini sitcom, 'Arthurs Army', sees Scargill Town continue their quest for FA Vase glory. Can they get through to the 1st round proper? This weeks Joey Dunwell Prediction League sees Mike Jones represent the supporters with his prediction for the Hartlepool Utd game. This weeks Classic Daggers is a home game from September 2008.
Episode 5 Here is the latest episode of the podcast. In this we discuss the away draw to Chesterfield as well as the upcoming games vs Bromley and Maidenhead Utd respectively. John Still talks about the weekends "Stones Derby" and there's a clear leader at the top of the league in The Joey Dunwell Prediction League. This weeks predictions are for the Maidenhead away game on Saturday and the supporters are represented by Sean The West Stand Turnstile Operative. In the mini sitcom, 'Arthurs Army', Mainwaring and Wilson are on the lookout for a couple of midfield enforcers. This weeks Classic Daggers is a match from the distant murky past of... 2017!!!
Episode 4 In what has been an alright week for The Daggers. We chat about the games against Eastleigh & Yeovil Town respectively and include our first Post Match Fan Reactions from Ken Summerfield and Blake Brooks. Blake also represents the supporters in this weeks Joey Dunwell Prediction League. In our mini sitcom, Arthurs Army, Scargill Town begin their road to glory in the FA Vase. What could go wrong? John Still talks about the Ashes match at the weekend and this weeks Classic Daggers is a game that will finally quash the rumours of Joel's hatred of Barnet.
Episode 3 In this episode we discuss the previous two games vs Boreham Wood and Harrogate Town respectively. Scargill Town take on local rivals Thatcher City in the FA Cup Preliminary Rd in our mini sitcom, 'Arthurs Army'. John Still plays a little bit of Football Golf with Darren and in this weeks Joey Dunwell Prediction League the supporters are represented by Dagenham Central. This weeks Classic Daggers is the midfield legend that is Peter Gain. We also give the info for where we will be situated after the game on Monday for the recordings of the instant post match fan reactions.
Episode 2 This week we have a new co-host with me as Tel is away on holiday. I'm joined by Mike Wainwright and in this episode we chat about the opening 3 games and how he began supporting The Daggers. In this weeks Joey Dunwell Prediction League, the supporters are represented by Alan Wilson. In our new mini sitcom, 'Arthurs Army', Mainwaring and Wilson attempt to sign a new goalkeeper from under the noses of their arch rivals. This weeks Classic Daggers is the FA Cup 4th Qualifying round game at Basingstoke where Tony Roberts created a piece of history.
Episode 1 In this opening episode of the new season we discuss the Daggers new signings as well as our predictions for how we think the season will go. We have kept some of the favourites like Classic Daggers, which this week is Sam Saunders, Soccerball America 901 returns with another win for Memphis 901 and John Still is back with his musings of attending the Glastonbury Festival during the summer. We have a few new sections as well. One is 'Roger Milford: Man About Town' and the other is a mini sitcom called 'Arthurs Army', which is based in the 1984/85 season and is about a non league team called Scargill Town.

Jody Brown (part one) A special episode where Joel and Terry were privileged to spend some time chatting to former Daggers coach Jody Brown. In this first part we chat to Jody about his coaching and managing career so far. From his spells at Tiptree Town, Halstead Town, Maldon & Tiptree (19pts clear at Xmas), Redbridge (FA Cup 2nd Rd), Grays Athletic, Concord Rangers, Heybridge Swifts (Cup Team Of The Year) and his 73 days at Welling United. We also ask him how he would improve non league football to bring it closer to Football League standards.
Jody Brown (part two) In this second part of the chat with former Daggers coach, Jody Brown, Joel and Terry talk to him about his time at the Daggers. We discuss where he thought it went wrong and gives us an insight from inside the dressing room. He tells of his favourite memories of his time with us and what the future holds for him.
It was fantastic spending a few hours with Jody chatting about so many subjects, on and off air and we'd like to thank him for the time he gave us and wish him luck for the future.
Daggers of the Decade A special episode of the podcast where Joel and Terry put forward various Daggers players from the past ten years and make an ultimate Daggers Of The Decade team. There is also a bonus section where they make a Daggers team up from all the ex Daggers players that follow the podcast on Twitter.
Christmas Special 2019 The A Game Of Headers & Volleys Christmas Special 2019, 'When The Arthurs Saved Christmas'. An extended festive episode of the podcast sitcom, 'Arthurs Army'. It's a little bit different from our usual podcasts but we loved making it as a one off special. We join Scargill Town as they prepare for their Christmas Day charity football match against their arch rivals and higher leagued team, Thatcher City. With the team due to have dinner together after the match, what could possibly go wrong?
100th Episode Daggers Quiz To celebrate the 100th episode of the A Game Of Headers & Volleys podcast, we created this Daggers based quiz special titled, They Think It's A Question Of Universally Challenged. Superbly hosted by our very own Daggers man on the mic, Mike Jones and we were privileged to be joined by Daggers legend, Paul Cobb who teamed up with podcast co-host, Terry Spelman to form the team, Steve Scotts 30 Yarders. The other team was called, John Jacobs Flying Pigs and were made up from Daggers fans Mike Wainwright and Sean Archer. Here's to the next 100!

Junior McDougald In this special episode we interview Tony & Scott Davies from the Davies Family Quest on the charity to raise awareness of Klinefelters Syndrome. We also chat to Daggers legend, Junior McDougald, whose own childrens charity, The Sports Connections Foundation, is working with the Davies family to get the message out into the schools.

Mark Janney Joel & Terry's special guest is ex Dagger, Mark Janney, who played for the Daggers between 1997-2005 and was involved heavily in nearly getting the Daggers promoted to league football in two consecutive years as well as being part of the record breaking team that took the Daggers to the 4th Round of the FA Cup.
Suzanne Collier Joel & Terry are joined by fellow Daggers supporter and season ticket holder, Suzanne Collier, who talks about her time as a supporter of one of the current clubs incarnations.
