The Daggers today struggled to a difficult 1-1 draw against 10-man
Weymouth at the Wessex Stadium.
visitors started brightly with Sam Saunders (left) trying a
speculative long-range effort, but it flew wide of the post.
With only 9 minutes gone, the Terras took the lead when Raphael
Nade latched on to a long ball from the back and took the ball forward
before calmly slotting the ball home.
Daggers were nearly back on level terms only a couple of minutes
later when Paolo Vernazza (right) was unfortunate to put his
shot wide from a Glen Southam cross.
With a quarter of an hour gone, the hosts had Brian Dutton dismissed
for a professional foul on Dave Rainford when the defender brought
down the Daggers' midfielder when he was through on goal.
Unfortunately, Sam Saunders free-kick was straight into the wall.
The visitors seemed to grow in strength throughout the remainder
of the first period and Jamie Taylor, Glen Southam, Paolo Vernazza,
Anwar Uddin, Scott Griffiths and Danny Foster all went close.
However, the Daggers were not able to get the goal they needed
before the interval.
second half started in much the same way as the first finished and
early in the half, Scott Griffiths (left) saw yet another shot
from range fly wide.
Two good chances for the Daggers in the 52nd and 53rd minutes
saw Terras' goalkeeper, Jason Matthews save well from Glen Southam's
fine shot and then take the ball easily from a Jamie Taylor effore.
On 58 minutes, Matthews again kept the hosts in front when he
saved well from a Sam Saunders effort, parrying the shot to Jamie
Taylor who should have done better, blasting the ball over from
Daggers piled on the pressure with Saunders seeing his shot blocked
by Coutts and Chris Moore (right) seeing his effort blocked
Mark Arber shot over from range and Matthews denied Southam and
Nade went close for the hosts in the 78th minute before Danny Foster
went close again for the Daggers.
Daggers were awarded a dubious corner in the dying minutes and,
with Tony Roberts up in the area, won another corner, but the visitors
were not able to take advantage.
With the game seemingly headed for a 1-0 home win, the Daggers
snatched a late equaliser when Ben Strevens (left) scored from a
Danny Foster throw.
