Is the Sky the limit?

The Daggers face Stevenage Borough live on Sky Sports 1 tomorrow at Broadhall Way. But is it good news or bad news that the cameras will be there?

Daggers fans and players alike have always been under the illusion that the team pull out all the stops when the Sky Sports cameras come to town, but if truth be told, the statistics don't make pretty reading.

What may have clouded their judgement somewhat is their failure to differentiate between gallant performances in the FA Cup and actually picking up points in the league. The Daggers have twice featured in FA Cup replays live on Sky Sports winning both with fabulous performances against ExeterCity in 2001/02 and against Plymouth Argyle in 2002/03.

What should worry Daggers fans is the fact that they haven't picked up a league win in front of the cameras since April 12, 2002 when they saw off Doncaster 1-0 at Victoria Road, over three years ago now.

In fact, over the last four seasons the Daggers have had nine televised Conference games shown and have only picked up 12 points out of a possible 27. The tenth and most gut-wrenching game to be screened was the play-off final against Doncaster, where the Daggers lost out on a golden goal to be sunk 3-2 and see their dreams of League football quashed once more.

Even more tellingly, the Daggers have failed to win a single televised league game since the 2001-02 season, when they saw off Boston, Morecambe and Doncaster.
