Purfleet curse strikes again
The Daggers are out of the Essex Senior Cup at the quarter final stage after predictably losing to a full strength Thurrock side in last night's match at Ship Lane.

The Daggers fielded a mix of reserves and first teamers including Glen Southam (right) as the only bona fide first team regular after he was suspended for the weekend's Conference fixture and is unable to play in the FA Trophy under the terms of his transfer. The youngsters gave a decent account of themselves though against the team currently sitting third in the Conference South.

The Daggers had a number of decent chances before going behind including a solid penalty shout five minutes before Thurrock's Lee Hodges put them into the lead in the 38th minute.

Tresor Kandol headed home Hodges cross on 68 minutes to make it 2-0 and despite a couple of decent chances to pull themselves back including a great save by Sealey from a Southam shot, that was it for this season's Essex Senior Cup.

Dagenham & Redbridge: 1 Martin Brennan, 2 Danny Foster, 3 Tom McGowan (16 Chris Tedder, 87 mins), 4 Danny Cross, 5 Shane Blackett, 6 Glen Southam, 7 Liam Francis (15 Ben Green, 62 mins), 8 Jamie Smith (12 Shane Williams, 72 mins), 9 Steve Clark, 10 Matthew Judge, 11 Tony Boot.
Subs: 14 Emmanuel Sackey, 17 Billy Munroe.

Attendance. 169
