The Daggers today achieved their first win without Garry Hill at the helm,
beating Forest Green 3-1 in a typical end of season encounter.
the kick-off, it was clear that the Daggers were more up for the game and were
keen to make amends for some dismal recent performances.
With only five minutes gone, the visitors got of to the perfect start when
Steve Perrin was only able to parry Chris Moore's shot to Mark Janney (left) who
calmly fired the ball home into the unguarded net.
four minutes later, the Daggers doubled their lead. A short corner caught
the Rovers defence napping and Mark Janney played a beautifully accurate cross
to Leon Braithwaite (right) who headed home.
As the half wore on, the hosts began to get more of the play and Alex Meechan,
in particular, was proving to be a handful for the Daggers' defence, first
crossing the ball for Scott Rogers who headed against the post and, six minutes
before the break, firing just over from long range.
59 minutes on the clock, Meechan got the goal that his play deserved, reacting
quickest to a loose ball and placing the ball into the corner of the net from
the edge of the area.
The rest of the half was a scrappy affair until, with time rapidly running
out, Chris Moore (left) made sure of the points, beating the offside trap and
shooting the ball low under Perrin.
