"Pub Team"
A football club which travels on the day of the game rather than staying overnight for away matches, but annoyingly can still win despite having virtually no time to warm up.

Daggers complete Northwich double
The Daggers got back to winning ways against Northwich Victoria on Saturday with a comfortable win over a side that already look doomed to relegation.

Garry Hill resisted bringing back Tim Cole and Mark Bentley who both were on the bench having returned from suspension. The team lined up 4-4-2 with a back four of Goodwin, Vickers, Matthews and Bruce and a midfield of Mustafa, Piper, Shipp and Tony Scully. Up front Steve Watts (left) and Leon Braithwaite got the nod with Rob Gill, whose loan ends after the Leigh RMI game, nowhere to be seen.

The game was pretty much one way traffic throughout with the Daggers dominating possession. After Lee Goodwin had a header well saved by Andy Ralph, a rare Northwich attack could well have seen them lead but for a strong save at full stretch from Tony Roberts (right) to deny Nicky Young.

The Daggers huffed and puffed for the whole first half but too often the last pass or cross was wasted, particularly by Tony Scully (left) who had a stinker.

After half time it was more of the same until a magic moment from man of the match Tarkan Mustafa. In the 53rd minute he picked the ball up and ran at the Northwich defence for the umpteenth time, beating player after player. In the end Tarkan had a little luck when a tackle saw the ball break perfectly for him to find the corner of the net.

With the deadlock broken the Daggers steamed forward looking to make the game safe. 1-0 became 2-0 on 67 minutes when Lee Goodwin headed home from close range with the Vics defence appealing for offside following a corner and the home crowd settled back waiting for the floodgates to open.

Instead Jamie McGuire went close, another great save from Robbo keeping the ball out. The two managers rang the changes in the last 20 minutes, mysteriously Chris Piper getting the hook from Garry Hill while Scully stayed on. Leon Braithwaite also got pulled after a bad day at the office and at the death Mark Bentley (right), on for Lee Goodwin, could have made it three but for a good save from Ralph.

The win leaves the Daggers still 14th but closes the gap on the teams above them. A win is a win, but with things turning much tougher from two weeks time, the team needs to find some real form soon.
