DAGGERS DICTIONARY

"Pre-season"
Either (1) watching a bunch of players you don't recognise run round in last seasons kit, or (2) the period between relegation and reality setting in where fans of ex-Football League clubs can be found stating "we are going to piss this tin pot league" at every opportunity.

The Daggers lost 5-2 at the Lawn in the last game of the Conference season to finish in 5th place. The result means a two leg play off against Morecambe who finished with a 5-0 win over Burton Albion.

The hosts started the brighter of the two sides and nearly took the lead within ten minutes of the start when Paul Gothard (left) mis-kicked his clearance but Cowe was unable to put the ball into the net.

With the Daggers seemingly not at the races, Rovers did take the lead in the 25th minute when, from a corner, Meexhan played the ball to Grayson whose shot was deemed to have crossed the line despite a last ditch clearance.

The Daggers found themselves two down on 40 minutes when an Odejayi header clattered off the post to Alex Sykes who squared the ball for Richardson to slot home.

Deep into injury time, Steve West (right) latched onto a mis-kick by Steve Jenkons and calmly placed the ball into the corner of the net beyond the reach of Steve Perrin.

Less than a minute into the second half and the Daggers had dragged themselves back onto level terms. Paul Terry (left) capitalised on another defensive mistake to tap home a cross.

The Daggers momentum was soon halted though when, on 55 minutes, Odejayi's shot was parried by Gothard and Grayson lashed home the rebound.

Within three minutes, Odejayi did get his goal, putting the ball under Gothard.

Rovers completed their rout just after the hour mark when Cowe smashed home a loose ball.

At the bottom, Woking, Leigh RMI and Gravesend & Northfleet all won to save themselves while defeats for Nuneaton Borough and Southport means they are relegated.
