Tarkan signed for the Daggers in February 2003 from Rushden &
Diamonds.
Tarkan started his career at Norwich City and moved to Wimbledon but
was unable to break into the first team and moved to Kettering Town in
1996. He moved to Barnet in 1997 but it was his move to Kingstonian
a year later that saw him really come to prominence. He scored the
winning goal in the 1999 FA Trophy Final against Forest Green Rovers and,
a year later, was voted Man Of The Match when Kingstonian beat Kettering
Town in the final.
Tarkan moved to Rushden & Diamonds in June 2000 and he played
a major part in their Nationwide Conference championship season. He
was one of the Conference team of the year in 2001 and was the Rushden
& Diamonds sponsors' player of the year last season. Tarkan has
also played in the England Semi-Pro side, winning his first cap in the
match against Wales in February 2001.
Tarkan spent a month on loan at Doncaster Rovers from 20 December 2002
and, despite their best efforts to sign him, he elected to join the
Daggers instead. He ended the season playing against Rovers in the Play
Off Final scoring the equaliser before finally losing out to a golden goal
winner. He looks a superb signing for the Daggers though and a class
footballer.
