The Daggers drew 3-3 with a Peterborough United side last night in front of a
crowd of 431 with goals
from Lee Goodwin, Danny Hill and Mark Stein. Peterborough scored first after
just 11 minutes through a great shot from Helgi Danielsson but the Daggers were 3-1 up
time and well on top having started in a 5-3-2 formation with Paul Bruce (left) and
Steve Perkins playing as wing backs. This looked very effective.
In the second half Garry Hill
replaced Ross Johnson with Junior McDougald, pulling Steve Perkins (right) back
to centre half in a back four. Both 4-4-2 and 4-3-3 formations were tried as a
number of other substitutions were made as the Posh came back and the three games in four days looked to
be taking their toll towards the end. Jason Lee scored twice for Peterborough to even the score
and bring a smile to the face of Posh manager Barry Fry (below).
Daggers team: Tony Roberts, Steve Heffer, Paul Bruce, Lee Goodwin, Ross Johnson
(Junior McDougald 45 mins), Danny Hill, Steve Perkins, Paul Terry (Steve Vaughan
68 mins), Danny Shipp, Mark Stein, Steve McGavin (Ollie Berquez 73 mins). Sub
not used: Paul Gothard.
It was announced at the Peterborough United game last night thet the final
warm up game of the pre-season, which was due to take place this coming Saturday
at Chesham United has been cancelled.
No reason for this was given although DiggerDagger believes that Garry Hill
has now seen enough following the what was effectively four games in 8 days for
his first team and with a number of niggles being carried by players has decided
a full 12 days of rest and training is the best preparation for the visit of
Leigh RMI on the 17th of August.
welcome sight last night was that of Lee Matthews (left) warming up with the
team and kicking a ball around with the subs before the game. Lee told fans that
he was likely to make an appearance at the weekend at Chesham, only to find out
later that the game was cancelled.
Lee looked fit and lean and raring to go.
