You're The Ref
by Nelson on 01/02/2002

How much do you know about the laws of association football? Every week, we will be posting a refereeing poser for you. Take a look at this week's poser.

You're The Ref
You are the referee. The balance of the match depends on you.

Here's this week's poser:

At at the start of the match, the player taking the kick-off does not pass the ball to his team mate, but in stead, starts to dribble the ball goalwards.

What is the correct decision?

Do you:

A. Allow him to continue play

B. Order the kick-off to be retaken

C. Award the kick-off to the opposing team

D. Award a direct free-kick from the centre spot

E. Award a direct free-kick from the place where the player touched the ball a second time

F. Award an indirect free-kick from the centre spot

G. Award an indirect free-kick from the place where the player touched the ball a second time

The answer to last week's poser was E. You should play the match until it becomes necessary to abandon. Any alteration in the length of each half must be the same in both half and agreed prior to kick-off.

There will be a new poser next week.
