Recent History

Forest Green were promoted to the Conference at the end of the 1997/98 season, having even surprised themselves by winning the Southern League Premier Division at the first attempt.

They were called Stroud for a period up to 1992/93 when their name reverted to Forest Green Rovers. They are one of the friendliest clubs in the Conference and seem to manage to keep things going despite being one of the favourites for the drop every season. After three seasons clinging on by their finger nails they finished 9th in 2002/03, but then reverted to type in 2003/04 with an 18th place.

They have a proud recent FA Trophy record having reached the final twice in 1998/99 losing to Kingstonian at Wembley 1-0 and 2000/01 losing to Canvey Island at Villa Park 2-1.

Their ten season league record stands as follows
